Convert OST Files to PST with Stellar Converter for OST

November 5, 2022 by AJNI No Comments

This neat software makes it possible to convert an OST file into a fully functional PST file. You can even export single items inside the OST file if you would like to. But what's an OST file? An OST file gets created by Outlook whenever you create a new Outlook profile. It is the current locally synchronized copy of your mailbox. With this format you cannot do much. A PST file, on the other hand, is a functional archive of an outlook profile. So why is there a need for an OST converter like Stellar Converter for OST?

When your OST file becomes inaccessible or gets corrupt, you are not able to access your mailbox items. The OST file gets corrupted due to several reasons, & you will come across with below-mentioned errors:

  • "Your offline folder file could not be configured \\ComputerName\FolderName\Outlook.ost"
  • "The operation failed due to a registry or installation problem. Restart Outlook and try again. If the problem persists, please reinstall."

So in this case, you need to convert the OST file to PST to get access to all your mailbox items.

Automatic Outlook Profile creation with ZeroConfigExchange key

June 11, 2021 by AJNI No Comments

If you are syncing local AD users to Azure AD and using Seamless Sign-On (see https://www.ajni.it/2021/05/configuring-azure-ad-connect-for-user-synchronization/ and https://www.ajni.it/2021/05/configure-seamless-sign-on-for-microsoft-365-login-with-azure-ad-connect/), there is an awesome registry key that automatically creates the Outlook profiles without user interaction.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\AutoDiscover

DWORD ZeroConfigExchange 1

Alternatively, you can add the DWORD ZeroConfigExchangeOnce 1 key to automate the creation of the first profile. Successful profiles have to be created manually.

Quick Tip: Find out the path of an email in the Outlook search results

April 30, 2019 by AJNI No Comments

So you just made a keyword search in Outlook and found that very important email from your boss. Awesome! But how can I find the path of that email, you may ask? Here is a very quick tip.

By hitting ALT+ENTER on the corresponding email, you can see some properties, including the email's folder. In my case it is Posta in Arrivo (Inbox).

Another way of finding out, is to double-click on the email and select File on the top left of the window.

Cya!
